STUDENT MINISTRY INTERNSHIP

PRIMARY GOAL:  To assist our Youth Minister and additional staff in the work of student ministry at Hickory Grove Baptist Church.
 
REQUIREMENTS FOR CANDIDATES:
  • Must be a committed follower of Christ.
  • Must demonstrate a maturing/growing faith.
  • Must attend/serve at all weekly youth gatherings/services (besides the 2 Wednesdays and 2 Sundays that are allowed for vacation time)
  • Must attend/serve/lead at all youth events/camps/retreats.
  • Must make frequent off-campus connections (i.e. sporting events, concerts, plays, meet-ups, etc.)
  • Must be present for on-campus work time as decided upon by the candidate and Youth Minister, including weekly student ministry staff/team meetings and more.
  • Must be or become a member of HGBC.
  • Must complete a criminal background check.
  • Must be a minimum of one year out of high school.
  • Must read, affirm, and sign student ministry volunteer leader documents (Leader Covenant and Gender Boundaries).
  • Must commit to the entirety of the summer internship duration.
 
DESIRED SKILLS/QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Self-starter/independent worker.
  • ​Relational, especially with middle and high school students.
  • Dynamic stage presence/up-front personality, natural ability in communication.
  • Social media/technology management/content creation.
  • Teachable, desire to learn/grow in leadership and ministry.
 
POTENTIAL WEEKLY SCHEDULE/HOURS
(subject to availability and shifting ministry schedule):
  • Starting in June and going through mid August - Roughly 10 weeks
  • Monday Mornings - 9AM-12PM (3 hours)
  • Wednesdays - 9AM-10PM (break/lunch during the day) (8-12 hours)
  • Sundays - 8AM-12:00PM (4 hours)
  • Off-campus connection (1-2 hours).
  • TOTAL HOURS/WEEK ~ Roughly 18-20 hours.
  • PAY: $2000 stipend for the summer
