MEET MATT KEEFER
My name is Matt Keefer and I am married to my beautiful wife, Danielle. We have been married since 2013 and we have one son, Carter, who is nine years old. We are very excited to come serve at Hickory Grove. When searching and praying for where God wanted us next, we wanted a church that our family would be able to serve and grow in our relationships with God. When we found Hickory Grove and looked online, we were excited about the kid’s ministry, the various groups where we knew we would be able to develop friendships, and the opportunities to serve the community. We were praying for a place where community and serving others was a priority. We also wanted a place where Carter would be able to attend church camp through his teenage years, which he is excited about too.
I believe in creating a sense of community and building relationships with the music ministry volunteers so that the team can come together, do our best every week, and grow in our gifts we have been blessed with. My desire is to create an atmosphere where we (the music ministry) do our best to eliminate distractions where everyone can worship freely and through various ways make the worship experience diverse and unique. Songs should be biblically sound and theologically in line with the church and flow well together. I believe by creating this atmosphere of worship it allows positive life change to happen in people's lives in His presence and sets the tone and hearts for the message that will be given.

BE A PART OF THE PROCESS
Matt will be leading us in worship on August 3rd and a vote will take place at the end of each service on the call for Matt to be the next full time worship minister here at The Grove.
If you are not familiar with how some churches do this, for this particular type of “hire,” all the members of our church have an opportunity to vote yes or no to the “motion” from the personnel committee to call Matt to be our worship minister. So at the conclusion of each of our worship services on August 3rd, those who are members of Hickory Grove will be invited to tables located in the gym/worship center where they can place their vote by ballot. You will hear from our moderator Mark Erion in each of the morning services announce that we are in “business session” as a part of this process.
All of this may seem very unique and different to some people. This truly is an opportunity for our church to be a part of this whole process. On Saturday, August 2nd, we will have a meet and greet opportunity at 3:30 PM in our Chapel, giving you a chance to meet Matt and get to know him before he leads worship the next morning. BE IN PRAYER
God is the only One who could have orchestrated all of this. The prayers of the Grove family, the personnel committee, and the staff… THAT was the most important thing that allowed us to be in God’s time and on His path. Pray for Matt, Danielle, and Carter Keefer as they join us for the weekend of August 3rd. They are in a big transition in their own lives, so please remember them continually. And pray for our whole church family as we fulfill this process and allow God’s next called leader to help us keep on BLESSING NKY and BUILDING GOD’S FAMILY, by doing whatever it takes to help every person take their next step with Jesus!
